Obituary for Anna Townsend (Ferris)

Anna (Ferris) Townsend, 87, of Old Saybrook, formerly of Canton, beloved wife of the late Francis Xavier Townsend, died peacefully at home among family on Monday, September 15, 2014. She was born in Boston, MA and grew up in NYC, where she met her husband. They moved to CT in 1954 and started their family. Anna often said her greatest accomplishment was raising her seven children. An avid reader and lifelong Red Sox fan, she was friendly and outgoing and made a friend of everyone she met.
Anna is survived by her children: Mitchell and his wife Cam, Matthew and his wife Nancy, Mark and his wife Mary-Jo, Martin, Michael and his wife Linda, Maureen, and Monica; fifteen grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Besides her beloved husband Frank, Anna was predeceased by a brother Mo Ferris; and a sister Peggy Ferris.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, September 19, at 10 AM, at St. Patrick's Church, 50 Church St., Collinsville. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Collinsville. Friends may call at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, on Thursday from 6-8PM.
