Judith Ann Verrengia (King), 70, of West Hartford passed away on Sunday (December 28, 2014) at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born October 9, 1944 in Lawrence, MA to the late Eugene and Evelyn (Somerset) King. At an early age she moved to Hartford, CT where she met the love of her life, Harold Verrengia. As they began their life together they moved to West Hartford where she would spend the remainder of her years and raise their 4 children.
Judith graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1962 and spent almost 25 years as a bookkeeper first for Dr. James Black and then for the CT Children’s Medical Center. In 2002 she retired to fulfill her dream of being an amazing homemaker and watching her grandchildren grow.
Judith dedicated her life to raising her 4 children and enjoyed countless hours with her 8 grandchildren. Her most treasured memories include her summer vacations on Hampton Beach, Christmas mornings with her family, apple picking with the grandchildren and shopping with her girls.
She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Harold Verrengia. Her four children, Thomas Verrengia of Newington, John and Lori Verrengia of West Hartford, Lyn-Ann and Steven Markie of West Hartford, Judi and Keith Gallinoto of Newington. Her 8 grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Rebecca, Stephanie, Jenna, JT, Kaitlyn and Allison. Her sister and brother-in-law Justine and Gerald Paquette of South Windsor, best friends of many years Judith and Charlie McCarthy and countless nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be Friday (January 2nd) from 4-8pm at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06110. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday (January 3rd) at 10:00am at St Helena Church, West Hartford. Please meet directly at church. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
