Obituary for Sara Waite (Johnson)

Sara (Johnson) Waite, 88, of Connecticut and Rochester, New York, died peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, November 27, 2016. She leaves behind a devoted husband, Alan W. Waite, and loving son Peter W. Waite. She is also survived by her caring daughter in law, Donna (Stewart) Waite; and two admiring grandchildren, Dylan W. Waite and Courtney S. Waite; as well as numerous nieces nephews, and their children.
She is the daughter of Benjamin and Josephine Johnson, and sister to Margaret Johnson Cser and brother Arthur Johnson. She was predeceased by three sisters, Elizabeth Johnson Kaiser, Lavinia Johnson, and Mary Johnson Bernabeo.

Sara spent 40 years in Rochester, NY, where she devoted herself to her family, friends, and career. Sara was one of the founders of a neighborhood "Sewing Club" that met monthly for many years, and was involved in community activities most notably with Aldersgate Methodist Church. Her longest and most rewarding work experience was the 22 years she spent in the finance department at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester.

Eventually, Sara and Alan returned to Connecticut where they lived in West Hartford, in close proximity to family and Church for more than two decades. The Waite family would like to thank Hughes Health & Rehabilitation Center of West Hartford, CT for their efforts in caring for Sara.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Elmwood Community Church, on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 2:00PM. Memorial donations may be made to: Elmwood Community Church, 26 Newington Road, West Hartford, CT 06110. For on-line condolences please visit: www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
