Obituary for Joesph C. "Joe" Sousa

Joseph C. "Joe" Sousa, 59, of West Hartford, went home peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2017, he was the beloved son of Irene (Cabral) Sousa of West Hartford and the late James "Jamie" Sousa. Born in Hartford, he had lived most of his life in West Hartford and was employed by the Aetna Insurance Company. Joe was a communicant of the Church of St. Helena, West Hartford. He was an avid fisherman and loved to be by the sea. Besides his mother he is survived by his sister, Dina Sousa Fitzsimons and her husband, Rorie of New Britain; two cherished nephews, James Fitzsimons and his partner, Nena Owens and her daughter, Eleanor of Newington and Liam Fitzsimons and his wife, Jennifer of New Britain. He will be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Doctors and Nurses of the ICU floor at John Dempsey Hospital for the compassionate care.
Funeral procession will be Wednesday, 10:15 am from Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am at the Church of St. Helena, Echo Lane, West Hartford. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be Tuesday,(April 11) from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com.
