Condolence From: john rubin
Condolence: I was a student of Mr Lauer's in 1969-71, first in 'B' and then in 'A' choir. He was a great mentor as well as teacher, and had a profound positive influence on so many of us. He will be missed.

Condolence: I'm very saddened to reach the day when I learn that my "second father", Bill Lauer, has crossed over. Bill was my choir director at Conard High School from 1967 to 1970. I was proud, honored, and thrilled to work with him as my church choir director, and beside myself with joy to have him play the organ and sing "Sunrise, Sunset" at my wedding in 1974 at St. Brigid's church. Bill was an inspiration. His kind, gentle nature and infinite patience with developing voice talent was legendary. Thousands of students had their lives touched in a positive way by Bill. It was the highlight of my high school life to do "Oklahoma" with him in 1970, and to this day still have the LP we made when the musical closed. Bless you Bill, and thank you so much.

Condolence: To Mr.Lauer's family. my deepest condolence, he was a very special man. I sang with him at Conard High School and St. Bridget's church. I learned to love music from him and I have very happy memories of my choir experience. He was a gentle, loving man who will be missed by many. May God bless his soul.

Condolence: Dear Dorothy,
We are very sorry for your loss. Bill was blessed to have such care and devotion from you. We were fortunate to have both you and Bill as long time Hartford Hospital volunteers. Bill dedicated more than 1,000 hours to the Hospital and is fondly remembered. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: Kathryn and Mrs Lauer - I'm so sorry to learn of the passing of Mr. Lauer. I will always remember him as a kind, caring, patient, gentle man who instilled a love for music in every student who was lucky enough to have known him. 40 years later I am still singing in a very special choir that brings such joy to my life and I have Mr Lauer to thank for that gift. He's the only person who could possibly have convinced me that I was capable of standing alone on stage with a microphone to sing Sentimental Journey for the bicentennial celebration. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm sure that heavens choir of angels is sounding better than ever. Thank you for sharing Mr Lauer with all of us.

Condolence: Kathy, Mrs. Lauer, and Emma,
My sincerest sympathies at Mr. Lauer's passing. His kindness, patience and his ability to challenge students made us all better people. He has always been and will continue to be in my thoughts whenever I sing in front of a group....could not do that without his guidance and encouragement. He always had more faith in us than we did in ourselves. I'm sure The Choir of Angels is very happy to have him join them. Peace be with you all.

Condolence: I am so sorry to read about the passing of Mr. Lauer. He was such a wonderful, talented, compassionate man. My experiences as a cast member for two Conard productions will forever make me smile. I was in the ensemble, but Mr. Lauer had a way of making everyone in the cast feel important. I also had the pleasure of singing in the St. Brigid's Church choir under Mr. Lauer's direction. Mr. Lauer was truly a gift to the West Hartford community. I will never forget him. My sincere sympathy to you Dorothy and your family.

Condolence: I'm so glad I chose to attend the 45th Conard reunion. It was great to see Bill looking well and just as vibrant as ever. The musicals I participated in with him are forever fondly etched in my memory. He also taught my brother, Jim, at Hall High School and he has his own treasured memories of Mr. Lauer. The Ryan and Lauer families held a special closeness. We will miss him and hold all his family in our hearts.

Best Love,

Stephanie (Stevie) Chittick Ryan Herrin, Conard '65

Condolence: It has been nearly 40 years since I graduated from Conard, and because I was advised at Sedgwick that it would be better if I never tried to sing in a choral group, I knew Mr. Lauer only from the audience, from backstage, from the halls. A gentleman to the core, inspiring to even those of us who weren't supposed to sing. What a full and wonderful live he had and what a legacy he left. Sending love today to the family, and especially to Kathy.
