Angélica  Vieira de Sousa
Angélica Vieira de Sousa, 85, of Cary, NC, previously of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Nicolau de Sousa, passed away at Duke University Hospital on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was born in Alqueidão da Serra in Portugal, daughter of the late Manuel Vieira Patrão and Maria Correia Pereira and immigrated to Connecticut in 1967. She is survived by her daughter, Carolina de Sousa of Cary, NC and her grandchildren, Madelyn, Katherine and Nicolas Acker; a sister, Albertina Correia, and a brother, Rafael Patrão. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins. Angélica retired from Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, after many years of employment. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Fátima Church in Hartford, where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She loved cooking, telling Portuguese “anedotas” (anecdotes) followed up by her infectious laugh, and spending time with family and friends. She was a friend to everyone and always ready to help anyone at anytime. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Funeral procession will be Monday, (September 11), 9 a.m. from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fátima Church, Hartford. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours will be on Sunday, (September 10), 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
