The family is grateful and appreciative of the kind and compassionate care that Marianne received from her dear friend and caregiver at home, Judith Alvarado, and from the ICU staff of John Dempsey Hospital, and the staff of Hughes Rehabilitation.
Upon graduating from Göteborgs Högre Samskola, Marianne joined the Swedish Foreign Service and served on the staff of the Swedish Embassies in Copenhagen and Ankara. It was in Ankara where Marianne met Richard. They quickly became the love of each other’s lives and were married in Sweden in 1955. Marianne adapted to the life as an Air Force wife and accompanied her husband on assignments to Karachi, Pakistan, Wiesbaden, Germany and Lima, Peru. Upon Richard’s retirement in 1968 they returned from Peru and settled in West Hartford, a town that Marianne loved and praised as one of the greatest places to raise a family. Marianne enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers that was truly a labor of love for her.
