Obituary for Ann Balog (Sottile)

Ann S. Balog (Sottile) of West Hartford CT passed away peacefully on Friday January 5, 2018. Ann, the loving wife of the late David Balog, was born in Hartford on February 8, 1928, to the late Joseph and Bessie Sottile. She attended Weaver High School and was employed by Connecticut General, Heublein and Russell Gibson von Dolan for many years. Ann and Dave were fortunate enough to spend several years living overseas in Belgium where she embraced the many visits of family and friends. During their retirement years, Ann and Dave enjoyed spending winters on Hutchinson Island, Fla. She is survived by her two beloved children; Karen Cain and her husband Jeff of Dallas, TX, and Bruce Balog and his wife Moira of South Glastonbury, CT. Ann also leaves behind her sister, Patricia Adams and her husband Donald Adams of West Hartford, CT. ‘Grammy” as Ann was so affectionately known , leaves her four cherished grandchildren; Hunter Cain and his fiancé Anna Cotten of Dallas, TX; Taylor Cain of Houston, TX, Danielle Balog and her fiancé Jake Leibowitz of Brooklyn, NY and Jennifer Balog of South Glastonbury, CT. Ann also leaves behind nieces and nephews, among them Michael Adams and several cousins with whom she was especially close, as well as many friends, from “Club” and beyond, who meant the world to her as she did to them.
Calling hours are Friday January 12th from 4-7pm at Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Ann’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13th at 10 am in St. Helena’s Church, 30 Echo Lane, West Hartford, CT.
