Peter Ronald Kraft, 69, of Hartford passed away on December 4, 2017 at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington. Born in Mineola, NY on May 3, 1948 , he was the son of the late Frederick L. Kraft, Jr. and Agnes Josephine (Harter) Kraft. Peter graduated from Mahopac High School in 1966 and attended Western Connecticut State College, Danbury, CT and Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ with an emphasis in piano, organ and voice. Peter was employed at the Hartford Courant starting in 1973, and was inducted into the Thomas Green Club as a 25 year employee in 1998 and retired in 2007. He began as a typesetter and ended his career as a customer service graphic designer. As the organist at the Christ Lutheran Church, Hartford for many years, Peter expressed his life-long passion for classical music. He shared that passion with friends and colleagues with trips to New York for concerts and theater, singing at his closest friends' weddings (Ave Maria was always a request) and introducing others to Tanglewood in the Berkshires on a summer day, wine glass in hand. Peter enjoyed nothing more than hosting gatherings at his home, including pot luck dinners, social times and quiet evenings on the back porch-always including food and music in some form as cooking was another of his joys. Peter is survived by his brother Frederick L. Kraft III; nieces Elizabeth Kraft Burton, Susan Kraft Fussell, Makensie Kraft, Chantelle Atwood; grand-nieces Isabella Burton, Avery Fussell and grand nephew Tucker Burton. Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his brother Thomas Wayne Kraft. Calling hours will be Friday, January 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm.
