Obituary for Lucille Mason (Laperle)
Lucille (Laperle) Mason, 95, of West Hartford, loving sister, aunt, godmother and wife of the late William Mason, passed away on Sunday, (March 11, 2018) at Hughes Health & Rehabilitation in West Harford, CT. She was born in Coaticook, Quebec to William Laperle and Aimie Vaillancourt.
Lucille grew up in St. Johnsbury, VT and later moved to West Hartford, CT. She worked for Underwood and Royal Typewriter for many years, eventually purchasing and running a rooming house in West Hartford.
Lucille married William Mason in 1957 at St. Thomas Apostle Church in West Hartford. She enjoyed traveling cross country and riding on the back of her husband’s Harley-Davidson but she was most passionate about ballroom dancing.
Lucille is survived by her sister, Lillian Clouatre from St. Johnsbury, Vt., as well as many nieces and nephews and her beloved cat Cindy.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, William Mason, brothers, Roland, Leo, Oliver, Silva Laperle and sisters, Jeannette Roy, Marie Champoux, Blanche Barthe, Theresa LaRose and also her beloved dogs, Freddie, Jody and Ginger.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Holiday and especially Martha, her daily caregiver for the past year.
Funeral procession will be Friday at 10:30 am from the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave. West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Apostle Church, West Hartford at 11:00 am. Burial will be Saturday, (March 17), 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Francis Old Cemetery on 24 Glebe Street, Taunton, MA. Calling hour will be prior to the funeral procession from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the funeral home.
