Obituary for Manuel V. "Manny" Rosa

Manuel "Manny" Rosa, 92, beloved husband of Maria (Monteiro) Rosa passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Manny was born November 11, 1925 in Rolica, Portugal, the son of the late John and Filomena Rosa. In Portugal, he served in the Portuguese Army before marrying his love, Maria (affectionately calling her "Katrina") in 1950. He moved his family to Canada in 1957 and to the U.S. in 1960. Together they shared 68 happy years raising their family and spending time with and playing an active role in the lives of their treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Known to all as "Papa", he was a quiet, gentle soul, with a quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed gardening, watching hockey and soccer, and was always found taking on a new project at home. Before his retirement he was employed by General Paving.

Manny leaves behind his beloved wife Maria "Katrina" Rosa, his son John Rosa and his wife Pamela Abbruzzese-Rosa of South Windsor; son-in-law Eduardo Marcelino of West Hartford, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren who will miss their Papa dearly, Melissa Sutton and husband Derek and their children Cameron and Justin; Michael Marcelino and wife Sherry and their children Holden and Jonah; Lisa Rosa, Brent Marcelino, Matthew Rosa and Samantha Rosa. He also leaves many dear friends, his in-laws, nieces, nephews and his loved family in Canada. Manny was predeceased by his sweet cherished daughter, Rosemary Marcelino (September, 2013) and brother John Santos. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rest in peace Papa, it's now time to be with Rose.
