Obituary for Roberta Mason Ellison

Roberta Mason Ellison
Roberta Mason Ellison on May 9, 2014 left her walk on earth to live at peace in the dwelling place of the Lord. All her family had gathered to bid her farewell. Roberta was born to her parents, Ernest and Winifred (White) Mason on November 4, 1925 in New York City, NY. At the age of seven her parents moved to West Hartford, CT. Roberta graduated from Hall High School, Green Mountain Junior College and Springfield College with honors. On May 18, 1946 she married Mason Blair Ellison at the Elmwood Community Church. They have been devoted to each other for 67 years. They had both joined the Elmwood Community Church as teenagers on March 31, 1940. Roberta gave birth to four children, Christine Joy Bolton who predeceased her, Jeffrey, Timothy and Matthew Ellison. Also in the family are grandchildren, David and Brendan Dane, Ernest Bolton, Ethan, Tyler, Aaron, Zachary, Theresa Jo, Shatia, Javari and little Rhiannon Ellison. Bobbie as she was called, loved to read. Living here in Hartford since 1979, she enjoyed being a reader for Talking Books. She also taught ESL, English Second Language and loved her class. She leaves a fat book of poems that she composed over the years. As Amy Jo, Tim's wife says of Mom, "You are such an inspiration to me; your steadfast love, kindness, and devotion to God and your family". We are eternally grateful for the loving care given by Dr. Julian Parsons and staff, by the doctors, nurses and staff of Hartford Hospital and Avery Heights. As a donation, give some loving care to anyone who needs it. A Memorial Service will be Sunday, May 18 at 4:00 pm at the Elmwood Community Church, 26 Newington Rd., West Hartford. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
