Obituary for Gilda Zavarella (D'Angelo)

Gilda (D'Angelo) Zavarella, 98, of Newington, wife of the late Gurrino 'Harry' Zavarella, passed away on June 29, 2015. Born on December 4, 1916, in Watertown, MA, daughter of the late Biagio and Anna (D'Amato) D'Angelo and grew up in Italy, moving back to Hartford in 1933 and residing in Newington since 1959. Gilda is survived by one sister Dina Moskus of Newington; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gurrino 'Harry' Zavarella, three sisters Rafaella Fabrizi, Clara Polce, and Mary Piazza.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Friends may call at The Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
