With sadness, the family of Norma Hazlehurst Kiehnle, 88, of West Hartford announce her death on Monday, October 24, 2016. Norma grew up on Vine Hill on the Beach Estate in Elmwood and lived in West Hartford her entire life. Her parents were George and Janet (Perkins) Hazlehurst. After graduating from Hall High School, Norma worked as a secretary for the Henry Souther Engineering Company, EMS and then Heublein. Norma was very active in the West Hartford Community with many years devoted to Suburban Women’s League, Covenant Congregational Church, her Sewing Club circle of friends and many charitable organizations. Norma had an adventurous spirit, visiting many countries near and far. After retiring from Heublein, Norma toured the United States with her husband in an R.V., then they became regular Gulf Shores, AL snowbirds. She leaves behind two daughters, Ann Harper and Joy Hebert, son-in-law Paul Hebert and three grandchildren, Gregory, Alexandra and Victor. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, George W. Kiehnle and by daughter, Priscilla. She will be remembered by friends far and wide for her generous spirit, ever-present smile and sunny disposition. A Memorial Service will be held at the Covenant Congregational Church of West Hartford on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 1 p.m. to celebrate and honor her memory. The Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford is assisting the family with arrangements. Charitable donations may be made in Norma's memory to either the Covenant Community Congregational Church of West Hartford or The Connecticut Humane Society.
