Obituary for Patrick C. Egan

Patrick C.  Egan
Patrick C. Egan, 82, of Newington, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born in County Galway, Ireland, son of the late Michael and Julia Egan, he came to the U.S.A. in 1955 and has lived in Newington for many years. Prior to his retirement he was employed at the A&P, Products Design and J&S Centerless Grinding. Pat was a member of St. Mary Church, Newington and was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by a daughter, Mary-Anne Altizer and her husband, Wayne of Wildwood, Il; four sons, Michael Egan and his wife, Ann of Harwinton, Brian Egan and his fiancé, Nanette Duncan of Newington, Stephen Egan and his wife, Abigail of Plainville and David Egan and his wife, Sofia of Southington; a brother, John Egan of West Hartford and a sister, Mary Glynn of County Galway, Ireland and seven grandchildren. He also leaves his pet and companion, "Gentle Ben". Pat was predeceased by a son, Patrick C. Egan, Jr.
Funeral procession will be Thursday (Nov. 3), 9:15 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, Newington. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be Wednesday, (Nov. 2), from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06110 or Puppies Behind Bars, 263 West 38th Street, 4th floor, New York, NY 10018.
