The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of James Ellis can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

I was saddened to read of the passing of Mr. Ellis. I was in his math class at Talcott in 1954 for 8th grade. I remember him fondly as an outstanding teacher. Being so many years ago I do not remember many specifics but 2 things I do remember. Upon entering his class on day one he said from now on we will not use the work arithmatic but rather mathematics. That of course made us feel more grown up as we were now in a mathematics class. We were now little big shots. The next memory is kind of strange but maybe that is why I remember it and I guess it worked. Whenever Mr. Ellis really wanted to have us remember something important, he would stand on his chair or even his desk on occasion and give us the information. That sure made us pay attention to what he had to say and I can see him doing that to this day. Nice man, great teacher and long productive life. What more can we ask for? Roy Bech
